Dan Bialek Live At Comedy Gold

DanBialek
Click photo to download our friend Dan Bialek’s new standup MP3. It’s hilarious, angry, smart, and ‘rant-tastic.’ (fuck, sorry, I can’t believe I just wrote that last word). His standup CD “This Will Not End Well” will be out in November.

Modest Proposal Alumni Animate Gossip Video

Mike and Anna Hollingsworth, who both did a bunch of art for our magazine, did a lot of the animation on the new Gossip video “Love Long Distance.” It’s really awesome.

Matt Peters as Gale the Abortion Protestor

Watch our good buddy Matt Peters in Weeds, alongside Alanis Morissette and Justin Kirk.

Ninjas, they’re like in Japan, they’re a … they’re like a martial arts assassin

Dan Bialek is a master of fast-talking. His new blog, ibearfalsewitness.com, and video series is all about his descent into the vile world of telemarketing. The sad thing is that Dan is probably fucking amazing at getting Nebraskans to buy actual products over the phone. But that wouldn’t make good video. What’s even more fun for me is knowing the black ball of contempt that’s continually rising just behind his voice.

Dan’s also a great standup. Check him out also at: http://www.danbialekloveskittens.com

I Love Chris Hardwick

In addition to being one of the nicest guys in Hollywood, he one of my favorite standup comics to watch. He needs to record an album or get together a Comedy Central Presents. Check out his blog at Nerdist.com and read the interview we published with his comedy music duo, Hard ‘n Phirm.

Talent Battalion: Mike Hollingsworth

Mike is a cartoonist, animator, and standup comic out in Los Angeles. When we published Modest Proposal Magazine, he was gracious enough to lend us his talents for minimal payment (Arby’s Beef n Cheddars and Miller High Life). He served as the Comics Editor and designed our last three covers (the only great covers we had).  Currently, he’s the Animation Supervisor on the great HBO show “The Life and Times of Tim” and his work will be featured in the upcoming Animation Block Party in Brooklyn on July 24th – 26th. They even used a still from his cartoon in New York Magazine to promote it:

Modest Proposal’s Talent Battalion: Moshe Kasher

Each week we’re going to feature one of our talented friends who has been particularly awesome of late. Or just someone whose name we draw out of a bucket decorated with gold stars.

This week, Ryan is picking Moshe Kasher.

“Ron and I did a show called See You Next Tuesday at the UCB Theatre in LA with him about four years ago. He came down from San Francisco to do it. After that, every time I did show in San Francisco, I’d look forward to seeing him. Without fail, he’d have new material, his stage presence evolved, and he just kept getting better. Now he’s really blowing up. He just won Best of Fest at the Rooftop Comedy Festival and I caught him last Thursday in New York. Really fun to watch live.”

He’s also in this web series, which is weird and hilarious and just won Best Web Series at the Rooftop Comedy Awards:
